San-San Pond Sak Wetland Reserve

The San-San Pond Sak Wetland Reserve (Humedal de San-San Pond Sak) is located in the western portion of Bocas Del Toro Province, in the Changuinola district. It includes coastal lagoons, mangroves, channels, wetlands, beaches and marine coastal environments, as well as the Changuinola River.

This sparsely populated area provides an important habitat for aquatic birds and other diverse species of that are in danger of extinction, particularly manatees and sea turtles. Consequently, The Ramsar Convention has also included this area on their List of Wetlands of International Importance.
